Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have an amazing preschool program that requires essential materials to maintain a quality classroom experience. Specifically, for this project, we hope to obtain a laminating machine that can help preserve student work samples, as well as learning aids such as letter and word flashcards and pictures that support vocabulary development.
My preschool program is called Expanded Transitional Kindergarten/Preschool Collaborative Classroom (ETK/PCC).
It includes eight students with disabilities and sixteen students without disabilities. This is an innovative and inclusive preschool model where students with special needs learn, play, and grow alongside their typically-developing peers. Research has shown time and time again that these inclusive classrooms are beneficial to both students with and without disabilities, while building a culture of compassion, acceptance, and friendships without boundaries.
We are a Title l school that receives federal funds to support at-risk students living at or near the poverty line. Title l aims to bridge the gap between low-income students and other students.
My Project
Pre-school is one of the most important - if not the cutest - year of a student's life. Rapid growth and progress occurs during this critical time period as children begin to develop their ability to color, cut, paint, draw, expand their creativity and thinking skills, and so much more!
Students and their families can preserve special memories and evidence of growth with work samples that are carefully and lovingly laminated.
These work samples - or snapshots in time - will be a tangible reminder to children of how persistence and hard work can pay off, as they see and keep evidence of their own progress. A laminating machine will also help us preserve learning materials such as flashcards and pictures to support vocabulary development.
