This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is made up of students with diverse backgrounds and varying exceptionalities. For three of my students, English is not the first language spoken in the home. Nine of my fifteen students qualify for exceptional student support. All of my children qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Several of my students are nonverbal making it overwhelming for them to navigate the classroom and express their wants/needs and emotions.
Due to the different needs of my students, colorful visuals are a must and a laminator for laminating the materials helps them be reusable and durable.
Visuals are a critical component in supporting my students need to communicate with others and make sense of the world around them.
Visuals help children make sense of the world around them by covering a wide range of student needs: understanding rules, increasing independence, making decisions, communication with people, providing organization, supporting transitions from one task to the next, providing clarity on what specific work to complete, and offering positive feedback.
The printer will be used to create useful visuals for communicating, engaging materials and graphs to make the material approachable and stimulating.
