My Project

I am a New York City public school educator. I am a part of a district which is a cohort of many schools across our city and has the highest amount of special needs students. Our district is specifically designed to educate students with disabilities. My students are neurodiverse and economically disadvantaged.

Our district works a 12-month program, so it is essential to have appropriate educational materials and curriculum to support them and meet their individualized learning needs.

I teach students with disabilities, and 100% of my students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. Students often come to us with many various struggles that we need to differentiate learning to meet their varied needs to help them achieve success.

Recently, we have switched to HMH Into Reading. My students need adaption and support in order to learn. Everything requires adaptions and we teach using center based instruction. Each of these centers in every lesson requires a lot of laminating to ensure that the materials are not destroyed after one use and that we're not wasting paper. We also need multiple level resources, which requires a lot of laminating. As we pay for all laminating out of our home pocket it gets quite costly considering I use several thousands of sheets a year. These seven packs, 1400 sheets will get my classroom through the first months of school which would be such a big help for my students and myself. I am hoping a kind donor such as yourself will understand how much of a struggle it is to reprint the same page every day when laminating could extend the life for weeks if not months. I know my student's success in the classroom has to do with these generous donations and support I get here so I sincerely thank you in advance.
