Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am kindly requesting a new laminator, laminating sheets, card stocks, magnetic tape, scissors, and a trimmer, to aid in the creation of resources for my students to use both at home and in school.
When something is laminated on card stock, it can last through the rigors of a 5-year-old using and learning from it.
Every year, I create materials, that my students use and every year, I send that material back home with the students at the end.
I would like to have all this material in the classroom, so I can create stuff in the classroom. I had the laminator in the classroom I got from DonorsChoose a couple of years ago, but it fell on the floor and stopped working. I now need a new one. You will be surprised that I went through 600 laminating sheets. I can envision the class seeing me make the materials in print of them. I find that when students see the creation before them, they take ownership of their materials.
I also intend to use magnetic tape to make resources that they can use at home and place on their refrigerator. Whether it be a small ABC chart, a list, or all their homework words that they will learn for the year. It is still a resource that they can go back to and use.
The scissors and the trimmer will be used to cut the materials to size if needed.
