Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At the LEC, student athletes come from 6 different schools to participate in athletics. These athletes come from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds but share the same environment- the Bronx, NY.

As the coach I am currently focused on introducing/expanding the game of lacrosse into New York City schools; an area that has little to no access to the game and is predominantly comprised of populations from lower income families.

The lacrosse field allows these young female athletes to develop important traits, including resiliency and confidence. Participating in lacrosse also helps the girls develop and maintain positive physical and socio-emotional habits that contribute to healthier lives. As well as opens up an opportunity for these female student-athletes of being on a team that they have never experienced and might not ever experience again.

Each time these athletes step on the field they demonstrate great passion to learn, work hard, and unite as one team.

The lacrosse field allows these girls to learn a new sport that they are not used to.

My Project

The Lady Lions need help getting the correct equipment for their lacrosse season. My student athletes will be using the bags for their lacrosse equipment throughout the season. The Lady Lions will participate in 16 games throughout the season with 5 practice days a week. These female student-athletes pride themselves on being a team, the socks will be used for games, so they can look uniform like a team.

These bags will be used by the athletes to help secure their equipment for the entire season and for many seasons to come.

As a coach, I understand the importance of helping your athletes staying hydrated; therefore the water bottles will be used to keep the athletes hydrated through all practices and games.

Proper equipment is essential to having a successful season. One thing my student athletes struggle with is financially being able to afford the proper equipment for the game. The schools these young ladies attend cannot fully financially support the team. Your donations will greatly help my student-athletes being fully prepared for all practices and games throughout the season.
