Ladies and Gentlemen, the Circus Parade Is about to Begin!
My students need Chinese diablos, juggling balls, peacock feathers, luna sticks, and 3 different sizes of body sox to add to our circus.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Pryor's classroom raised $493
This project is fully funded
For the past 16 years our school has put on an annual Circus. I teach at a small primary school and have 45 special needs students.
The Circus is a huge project and one that the entire school looks forward to. From the beginning of the school year, the students start to ask me who is going to be in the Circus. By the time you leave our school, you have had a chance to be in the show. Students are picked to be in the show for various reasons.
Some students are picked for their skills, others are for a special talent, some are students that have showed an improvement for behavior and others are the students who will never be picked or have the opportunity to do something special at school. Special needs students are also included and have provided some of my best acts. It is a huge honor to be picked for the Circus. Teachers are encouraged to perform and are a school favorite. The show includes a variety of acts and is never the same two years in a row. We perform for the entire school and then again for PTO.
The Circus not only provides a culmination to our gymnastics unit but also provides a wealth of learning opportunities such as cooperation, choreography and showmanship to name a few. The Circus reaches across the entire spectrum of the curriculum. It is amazing to see how much each student grows from their experiences in the Circus. The art and music teacher also help with the choreography and costuming of students.
Throughout the years we have made and acquired various costumes. Acts include balancing beauties (on the balance beam), monkeys on parallel bars, clowns, jump ropers, flying trapeze(on a climbing rope), tumbling acts, hula hooping lions, magic acts, baby animals (a school favorite), dancing acts, snake charmers, jugglers and mystery acts.
I would like to add an act using the body sox (see picture of our school). I have three of the body soxs but would like to add three more to make a dramatic impact during a dance routine. Additional juggling balls, peacock feathers, Luna stixs and Chinese diablos would also add extra pizazz to our juggling act. This equipment will not only be for the Circus but will also be used during regular class instruction. Juggling develops hand/eye coordination.
Your help would allow us to add additional juggling equipment to make our show more spectacular and also add an additional act using the creative body soxs.
