My students need a document camera to use with our new projectors for whole group instruction.

My Students
Using the large overhead projector blocks your students' view, may cause you to get your hands covered in overhead pen ink and use up countless transparencies. We currently have a projector and are hoping to get a Ladibug document camera to complete our technology system for our classroom.
I teach Second grade to a class of 24 very hardworking students who are eager to learn and explore the world in front of them.
My students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. For a block of time each day, I also teach a large group of 1st and 2nd graders who are learning English as a second language. They have varied learning styles that a document camera will help to address and allow all types of learners to participate.
My Project
We were very fortunate this year to get projectors this year in all of our classrooms. Unfortunately, we were not able to get document cameras for all classrooms due to budget cuts. Even though we have these nice projectors, I have to continue to use my overhead projector with black and white transparencies. Transparencies can, also, be expensive. Our new Common Core math program, alone, has four workbook pages per lesson.
We need a document camera so I can project the actual workbook page and write on the page, so the students can see exactly what they need to do. I can use manipulatives such as real coins or rulers that can be read by all. In Second grade, we are starting to write stories. I can't wait to use the document camera to demonstrate the writing process, show them the difference between a dictionary and an encyclopedia, or demonstrate how to regroup three digit subtraction.
By having a document camera in our classroom, I will be able to share and demonstrate ALL types of lessons.
I will be able to hold the students' attention, enrich their experiences across the subject areas and open up new opportunities for technology use in our classroom.
