This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a poverty stricken area, a quality lacrosse program would seem impossible to implement. Children from multiple backgrounds come to school every day wishing to try something new in sports. This would be offered to them with this equipment. They will learn how to throw, catch, and play the game.

Our students come from a very poverty stricken and culturally diverse area where lacrosse is not prevalent.

Many children at our school qualify for free lunch/breakfast due to their families economic status. We are a public K-5 school of just over 300 students. Every student has physical education class every day for 30 minutes a day.

My Project

With this lacrosse equipment, students will be officially introduced to the sport. This will promote students to be active in the sport not just during school, but also outside of it. Having this equipment available to them will hopefully spark an interest in many of our students while keeping them physically active. Students will learn the basics of the game which are, but not limited to:throwing, catching, cradling, offensive/defensive strategies, and shooting. As a lacrosse coach, I want to share my love of the game to my students in the physical education setting.

This is very important to our students because it gets them introduced to a different sport that can be very physically and emotionally rewarding throughout their lives.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States, we want to expand that trend to our school.
