I teach 20 enthusiastic first-grade readers in Utah. With the lowest per student funding in the nation, and one of the highest classroom sizes, Utah schools struggle with funding, and my school is no exception. My classroom is in a moderate-need school with some ESL students.
My students are at many different reading levels with different interests. I have shelves of fiction books, but some advanced students will have to re-read books by the end of the year.
In order to keep each student engaged and progressing, I need more books at different levels. I need non-fiction books to appeal to some students. I also need a spinning shelf so I can display more books, and help students find books they're interested in.
Your donation will help me engage my students in learning. If I can provide my students with accessible, varied, and level-appropriate books, I can lead to a lifetime of reading and learning.
