it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade students are very loving, caring, and curious. They love being engaged in the classroom and truly appreciate all things donated to the classroom. In addition, these curious fourth graders love learning! My students come from a very low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not have the access to technology.
Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch.
We have the highest rate of ELL (English language learners) in the state and a high number of special education students.
My Project
The students do a lot of fluency for both math and reading. The timers the students used last year were old and eventually stopped working which made fluency very difficult. The students need these timers to be able to get these math and reading centers up and running again. The classroom also needs a label maker. The materials in the classroom need to be labeled so they do not disappear and can be returned to the proper classroom. The materials also need to be labeled so the students know where items belong, especially with math and literacy centers. The students also receive free materials throughout the course of the school year and they like to have their items labeled. As with all materials over time, the headphones on the computers are broken and can no longer be used. Unfortunately, the school does not have any headphones available to give. The students are having difficulty completing educational computer programs due to not being able to hear.
