My Students
I miss the days where schools had funds and were able to fund science classes and engage young minds through science investigation, don't you? Students today are forced to learn science through a book. Help them learn science by doing science.
I teach 9th, 10th, and 11th graders in Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science.
A high percentage of my students are Second Language learners. Though my students are hardworking and extremely motivated to do well, they often times struggle with understanding many of the complex ideas in science. The content they must master is inundated with content-specific vocabulary and abstract concepts. For this reason, I feel my students will benefit from the following equipment this year and for years to come for hand-on experience with labs and visual demonstrations through demos.
My Project
My students need tubing, funnels, an electrolysis apparatus, and other supplies for labs. My students need these supplies for labs such as an enzyme lab, galvanic cell lab, electrolysis lab, conductivity inquiry lab, displacement lab, and a Boyle's law lab through which students will experimentally determine absolute zero. Through these labs, my students will be able to experience science by doing science and be given a true opportunity to connect with the sciences.

I hope that by adding these labs and demos they will be able to objectively determine if they see science in their futures.
