I am an eighth grade teacher in Roseboro, North Carolina. Eighty percent (80%) of enrolled students are on free and reduced lunch. This is my first year at the school, and there are a few things that the students need to have in class in order to have safe, fun hands-on experiences with the labs.
There are many labs that I am not able to set up for my classes because we do not have the proper equipment. Some labs involve a heat source and temp mitts that we can't afford because labs have to have a specific type. I have 134 students this year, and I would love to accommodate them with the materials they need. These materials will benefit the future classes as well.
It is important that the students be able to do labs dealing with temperature changes, how temperature affects solids, liquids and gases. These are basic experiences that all children should have, and I would love to share this with them.
