This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better" ~Albert Einstein My young scientists are excited to explore, observe and wonder about the world around them. They come into the classroom with wide eyes and open minds, ready to ask questions and eager to learn.

On Friday afternoons, fifty 4th and 5th grade students decide to stay after school.

These students stay to take one more science class. These motivated young scientists love to learn! As a science themed school, we are able to offer enrichment science programs throughout the year. The RSPACEE Program (Our Studies of Planets, Aerospace, Cosmic Environments, and Engineering) meets on Friday afternoons. Students stay for an hour and a half to learn about science concepts and conduct hands-on labs and activities.

My Project

I hope to help my students see themselves as scientists and engineers. My students are eager to learn and willing to give up their own time to do it! These students choose to stay after school for an extra science lab each week. My students will wear these lab coats when conducting hands-on activities. They will be able to perform science labs including lessons on plasma with ooblek, solar power with s'mores, and velocity with cars and ramps. This donation will help us encourage their interest in STEM!

By providing my students with lab coats, I want to develop their confidence and self image.

I want to promote STEM education and show my students the way to STEM careers. I want my students to know that they are already scientists!
