La Musique! Help Bring French Culture to Our Classroom

My students need an iPod dock/boom box (along with blank Cds) to have access to French and Francophone music in the classroom.

My Students

"Can we listen to more Edith Piaf?" My high school students are clamoring to listen to more French music in class!

My students are so excited to learn about French culture and language!

They attend a public school in the Midwest and are a an amazingly diverse group of young people - both in their family background (we have many first generation Americans from over 15 different countries) and in their areas of interest (sports, robotics, creative writing, dance, choir). They are great!

My Project

I am requesting an iPod dock/cd player and blank Cds so that my students can have ready access to French-language music. My hope is that this will empower them to choose songs themselves so that they "own" this material. In addition, having this boom box in the classroom will give students a chance to share French tunes they find on their own with their classmates!

Learning a new language is not done through isolated grammar drills and sentence diagrams.

It is instead a multi-faceted adventure that has the effect of widening student perspectives and helping them to become culturally-aware citizens. Your generous donation will help my students to experience global music without leaving the classroom.
