Kupa'a Academy Counseling: Sensory Dispensary

My Project

School can be hard for students with sensory needs. How can my students with ASD focus when there are 5 other students having conversations in the background? How can my students with ADHD finish tasks in a timely manner when they can't see how much time has passed? The materials I am requesting today can help them! The noise canceling earphones will help my students block out sounds in their environment and help them focus on the task at hand. The sand timers will help my students see how much time they have left to finish assignments. The sensory stickers will help my anxious students calm their nerves by grounding them. Last but not least, the digital timers will remind my students when time is up and when they can switch tasks!

We can make education more accessible for our students by not only providing them support, but also supporting their environment.

My goal for this project is to acquire practical items for my students to use when they are not in counseling. I can practice and rehearse skills with them in the safety of the counseling office, but they will have a hard time applying those skills in the classroom without the correct tools to do so. That's where you come in!

My students mean the world to me and their success is of the utmost importance! My students are special because they are eager to learn, socialize, and create a meaningful experience for themselves at school. They will be so much closer to achieving those wants and needs with your help!
