My students are voracious readers filled with curiosity about their community and the world around them. My students have begun to recognize there is life outside of their neighborhood. As they are transitioning into young adults, they realize they have a voice and their voice matters now and in the future.
On the first day of school, my students were eager to enter the library and explore books that were ordered at the end of the school and arrived over the summer.
My students have learned the joy, peace, solace and adventure of reading good books. My students are eager to start a book club to explore books in a community setting and read beyond!!
My Project
The pleasure of smelling and holding a book in your hands is exhilarating because we grew up with actual books. This is the same exhilaration that my students have when holding a digital device. My students will gain access to more books through free Ebooks with these devices.
My struggling students will be able to access more books based on their interest and reading levels, and my advance readers will able to access more books on their reading levels.
We challenge students to read at least 30 minutes daily within their reading range to increase academic success. These devices will level the reading field and provide greater access to knowledge for the entire student population of my school. Instead of waiting nearly three months for the processing of new library books, students will have more immediate access to new releases.
