This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Last school year we were very fortunate to have our project for an LCD projector funded. However, in order to fully incorporate this wonderful tool into our classroom, we are in need of a laptop. A laptop would greatly impact student learning by enhancing daily lessons.
My students are enthusiastic second graders in a Dual Language Spanish/English program.
My class is composed of multicultural English speakers and English Language learners. Both groups of students serve as language models as they learn to read and write in both languages. In addition, students learn about each others' culture and further develop an appreciation of differences in a multicultural environment. Our school is Title 1 and serves primarily an economically disadvantaged population.
My Project
Bringing a laptop to our classroom will be an enriching experience for my students. The laptop will help them learn in creative ways and bridge any educational gaps that may exist due to a limited access to technology. Research shows that students learn best when they are exposed to different learning modalities. Thus, the laptop will incorporate the visual and auditory aspect of learning which many students respond to. In addition, the laptop will allow access to multiple resources readily available through our district adopted language arts and math program.
The donation of the laptop for our classroom will have a tremendous impact on student learning.
As teachers, we are always looking for innovative and creative ways to fully engage ALL students. I know the laptop will enable me to provide a stimulating environment that will motivate students on their quest for knowledge, which will be at their fingertips!
