My students come from low-income households. This does not stop their will to succeed. Our school is located in the heart of St Louis, Missouri. In our classroom, we are dedicated to our education as well as becoming well-rounded global citizens.
My Project
For the end of the school year, I always do a final novel study with my 5th and 6th grade class to help them think about their future. Last year, we were interrupted by COVID-19 and could not finish the book. Then with the events of social injustice that occurred during the summer, I realized I needed to make this novel study at the forefront of my student's education.
With the help of your funds, I will purchase a novel study kit from Teachers Pay Teachers to guide students through the book "Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You" by Jason Reynolds and Dr. Kendi.
Our school district has recently completed an anti-biased anti-racist nook study on this book with adults and now more than ever I want to implement this book into my classroom.
