Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
All my students come from Spanish-speaking families, I teach them in Spanish while building their English vocabulary and fluency. The majority of my students come from immigrant families. My students work hard and they are excited and eager to learn. The neighborhood is mostly Latino and with very close-knit, caring, hard-working families.
The school is a Title I school and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch.
I enjoy working there and have worked in the same school for many years. I get students who are in college and come to visit and are always grateful that I was their teacher.
My Project
I need KN95 masks for my students and myself to be able to teach in person, as the Corona virus is so contagious right now and so many of us are getting sick.
I have had half my students absent on a daily basis since the holidays.
Hopefully the KN95 masks will keep us all safe and we will be able to stop having so many students absent.
The school only provides the surgical mask and I feel those are not dong their job. Many student bring the wrong mask to school.
