Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have 25 eager "K" students who are always busy doing something! My population covers all continents and at least a dozen languages. Every minute and every second of our kindergarten day is a teachable moment!
A favorite spot in my develpomentally appropriate and academically rigorous classroom is the playhouse/kitchen/dramatic play area.
Here, the students get the opportunity to play, pretend and practice important verbal and social skills. It also encourages them to try out many of the skills we have been developing through our Social Emotional Learning lessons.
Sadly, after 20+ years and MANY kindergarteners joyfully playing through the years, my kitchen area has seen better days! While I have all the STUFF, the actual hardware is falling apart and is beyond repair. These new pieces will provide a safe and refreshed area for my students to explore and enjoy this year and for many years to come!
