Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

KJHS is an amazing middle school in the heart of Mesa, Arizona. We have the most dedicated teachers who give their time and energy to make sure all students have access to high-quality instruction and opportunities. This year we are focusing on two things: mental health matters for all and building a sense of belonging.

To support this I am creating connection spaces that allow the school community to relax and refresh themselves.

It can serve as a collaboration space that fosters connections via conversation. It can also serve as a calm space! We are moving away from front-facing rows of desks and bright harsh lights.

We hope to increase our attendance rates by creating these connection spaces! Better attendance means more opportunities to learn and work. Academic success can be a gateway to better college and career opportunities.
