Kinesthetic Spanish Learning

My Project

I teach in a small school in a rural community. My students are wonderful! They are all-around great kids and like friendly competition. Unfortunately, with COVID, a lot of classroom activities were put on hold. Students are in need of strengthening their social and emotional well-being because of the many changes and disruptions that 2020 and 2021 brought. This past school year allowed us to get back to more of a sense of 'normalcy' and move in the right direction.

I'm hoping that we can continue to work on our students' social and emotional well-being through interactive games and activities that get students up, moving, and working with others.

The dry-erase boards will be used when doing a 'story asking' activity in Spanish class. Students use the boards to write fun ideas in Spanish to contribute to our story. This helps them to build their understanding quickly and in a fun manner. The giant Jenga will be an excellent way to review and interact with their classmates. I will be placing numbers on each block, which will correspond with a question in Spanish for students to respond to when they draw a Jenga block.

Giant Jenga and dry-erase boards will be the perfect addition to my classroom. Middle and high school students need opportunities to show off their knowledge and strengthen their understanding through activities that are interactive and that get them moving.
