This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Community service is one of the best ways to teach a child the value of empathy. Not only does it show kids kindness, compassion, and selflessness, but it can also teach them a variety of life skills. Community service builds ties. When students get involved in serving those around them, they become more invested in their community as well.
Community service builds empathy.
When we serve others we become more aware of our surroundings and the people we encounter in our daily life. With this project, I hope to teach my students to be compassionate, caring, and empathetic.
By making Kindness Squad t-shirts for my students using the requested t-shirts, I hope to create a sense of community within our classroom and give my students the confidence to engage in doing acts of kindness for the students of our school and our community. Serving the students of our school will teach my students how to build leadership skills by taking initiative, completing a community service project, and accomplishing a task.
