This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the school counselor at an Equity Focus School, I lead our student Kindness Club—a group of passionate, creative students who are committed to making our school a more compassionate and connected place. This project supports their mission to lead student-driven initiatives that spread kindness throughout our school community.

The student-led activity involves planning and launching monthly kindness campaigns such as “Compliment Week,” “Thank a Staff Member Day,” and “Kindness Bingo.” Club members take the lead in creating materials, organizing events, and spreading the message school-wide.

They design posters, write encouraging notes, create digital announcements, and highlight acts of kindness they see around the school.

The community our project will serve is the entire school—students across all grade levels, teachers, custodial and cafeteria staff, and others who make up our learning community. Our goal is to make everyone feel appreciated and seen. Many of our students face social, emotional, or economic challenges, and simple acts of kindness can have a big impact on their sense of belonging.

We are requesting an iPad to help students bring their ideas to life. The iPad will allow them to design digital flyers, record and edit video shout-outs, create photo slideshows of kind acts, and manage kindness campaigns more efficiently. It will also allow us to showcase their work on school displays and digital platforms, helping their message reach more people.

This project aligns with the "Spread Kindness" mission of the Allstate Foundation’s Service Stars initiative. With your support, our Kindness Club members will become leaders of positive change—building a stronger, more connected school community, one kind act at a time.
