Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am writing to request funding to support the emotional, behavioral, and academic well-being of my students through the provision of healthy snacks, small reward treats, and motivational stickers. I teach 6th grade at Alcove Trails Middle School, where many students face daily challenges related to poverty and food insecurity.

A number of my students arrive at school without having eaten breakfast, and some leave unsure of when they will eat next.

Offering nutritious snacks during the day helps them stay focused, energized, and ready to learn. In addition, small incentives like candy and stickers go a long way in promoting engagement, good behavior, and classroom morale, especially for students who may not receive consistent positive reinforcement at home.

This grant would allow me to provide:

Nutritious snacks (such as granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, applesauce, etc.) for students experiencing food insecurity

Small reward candy for participation, effort, and academic progress

Stickers and classroom incentives to motivate younger learners and celebrate small successes

These resources may be small, but they help create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child feels cared for and encouraged.
