Kindling Life-Long Readers With Kindles!

My students need two Kindles, as we want to inspire and motivate these young people to develop a life-long love of reading!

My Students

Literacy opens doors to a successful life. When I hear students asking, "Do we have to read?" I simply want to cry, because they do not comprehend the importance of reading! We want our students to develop a desire and passion for books and reading.

A review of data revealed that many of our students are struggling with reading.

Furthermore, a self-assessment confirmed that our students do not like to read and regard themselves as poor readers. Many reading activities are linked to tests or assessments. The students who don't perform well on the tests, tend to hate reading. We want to transform these negative attitude and teach students to enjoy reading!

My Project

We are requesting two Kindle e-readers for our classroom. These e-readers are equipped with features that will support the struggling readers when help is unavailable. The built-in dictionary provides definitions for unknown or unfamiliar words. The text-to-speech feature allows the students to follow along as the text is read aloud. Additionally, audio books are available to the students.

Reading is a vital skill that is essential for success!

We live in an age where information is easily accessible, but reading is the main way to take advantage of it. Motivating and inspiring students to enjoy reading will positively impact their lives!
