This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Like moths to a flame, my first graders are drawn to technology. I need your help to motivate my students to read, read, read! My students have been working hard learning how to read and enjoy reading a good book. The Kindle Fire tablets will help "kindle" their passion for learning and reading.

My first grade students are fun-loving, diligent, and motivated.

I teach a diverse group of students, with a good size of English Language learners. They attend a magnet school with an emphasis on math and science. Like all young readers, they love being read to and reading good literature.

My Project

The Kindle Fire will be used in many exciting activities in class. We would use the tablets to download e-books for independent reading for reading centers and guided reading in small groups with the teacher. We would also use the web browser to research topics that we are learning in class on the Internet. I would also use the tablets to monitor the progress of my students in literacy throughout the school year to better meet the needs of each student.

With your generous donations, we will use the Kindle Fire tablets in so many ways.

The tablets will "kindle" my first graders' inner "fire" for reading, as they love good books and technology. The tablets will be the key component in many literacy activities, ranging in use from independent, small group, whole class, and teacher. We would really appreciate your donations towards our class project!!
