My Students

My kids love to read! We don't always have a variety of books at our fingertips. Kindle Tablet Readers would provide them with a nontraditional approach to reading in the classroom. It would be beneficial to all third-grade students and encourage them to develop a love for reading.

We are a Title 1 Elementary School with approximately 650 kindergarten through fifth-grade students in a highly transient, urban community.

The student population being served for this project is 3rd-grade students. Approximately 100-120 students will participate in the Kindle Tablet Readers program.

My Project

Students will read e-books and listen to audio books on Kindle Tablet Readers. This will give them an opportunity to practice reading on grade level and have access to a variety of books. We will use the tablets during small group discussions and for center rotations. Students will engage in meaningful dialog and develop communication skills. This will allow them to take ownership for their reading and stretch themselves toward the goal of literacy. They will work on writing by interacting with classmates on KidBlog for activities related to what they read.

Donations to this project will improve my classroom because students will use a reading tool to help them improve reading and writing.

Kindle Tablets will keep students engaged while reading, build stamina, and help them develop a love for literature. Students will be able to reach their full potential and become lifelong readers.
