My Students

Do you remember learning to read and solve story problems? If you learned in a nurturing environment your answer is probably "No!" In our classroom we are uncovering the secrets to reading and math everyday, and having fun while we do it! In June we will be in love with books and mathematicians.

My students are hardworking urban children.

We are an inclusion classroom with many kinds of learners who require individualized access to learning. Every child in this classroom is excited to be here learning everyday. I am so lucky to guide them on their path!

My Project

Many kinds of learners means lots of small group teaching. During small group instruction it is important that everyone is learning. These different learners need various forms of engagement. Counters will give kids a hand-ons opportunity to solve math problems, and bring math to life. Puzzles will help us to have fun while we develop fine motor, reasoning, and visual perception skills. Kindles will open a door to a multitude of learning opportunities from reading to math to logic to science to social studies. All the while the engagement factor is off the charts!

This project will help 20 first graders learn all day!

My small groups will be less distracted, and able to focus on their lessons. Meanwhile the rest of the group will be learning and focused without even realizing that they are learning. What's better than that?!
