This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students make up the third grade ICT class in a high poverty school in Washington Heights. Despite the fact that almost 90% of the students in my school are from low income families, my class is made up of an amazing group of children who love to learn. These children love school. They are inquisitive, creative, and very enthusiastic. They absolutely love reading, and many of them are approaching grade level and some are even reading above grade level. I can't wait to watch them grow even more this year!

My Project

My students need electronic devices to keep up with other schools. We are not a 1 to 1 computer school and our students do not have much access to technology. The Kindle Fires will help me work with students in my classroom in a world full of ways. It will open doors to books the don't have access to in our classroom library or school library. They will be able to take online quizzes that measure their comprehension and we can even make a listening center.

These Kindle Fires will serve multiple purposes in our classroom for our students!

Another benefit of adding this technology into our classroom of course would be the fun factor. The students would be sure to stay more engaged in reading and strengthen their stamina which would only further prepare them for state testing and better reading skills for years to come.
