This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever struggled to read? My students experience difficulty reading grade level material every day due to various learning disabilities. Kindle eBook readers will give them access to books at their different reading levels with a touch of a button.

I am privileged to teach 4th and 5th grade students with multiple disabilities in a self-contained classroom.

Our school is located in a low-income area with a majority of second language learners. My students are greatly challenged when attempting to access grade level curriculum. Many struggle to retain concepts and therefore perform far below grade level. While they are eager to learn new things, they need additional supports to access the core curriculum and meet grade level standards.

My Project

I am requesting 3 Kindle eBook readers to help my students become proficient readers. The Kindle gives them access to books at all levels. In addition, students can download books from the library which makes it cost effective. The Kindle enlarges text for students who need larger print, and it reads text to those who need extra support reading independently. I will be able to utilize this resource during both small group instruction and independent reading time.

Kindle eBook readers will help my struggling students build reading fluency and comprehension skills by giving them access to books at their reading levels.

They will be more motivated to read given additional choices. In addition, the Kindle provides modifications for students who need additional support with reading and enlarged text. This resource will benefit students for years to come.
