This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you remember being a student who didn't have an innate love for reading? Can you imagine learning to read in a new language? Technology provides teachers with a way to inspire all students to enjoy reading!

My students are hard-working, diligent learners who get excited about new opportunities in the classroom.

As much of our population is low-income and our school district is large, our students are not always afforded the opportunity to use up-to-date technology in their learning. My kids love to utilize technology in their learning whenever possible, especially for research projects and reading!

My Project

Our class needs a Kindle Fire so that we may practice our reading in a new and exciting way. These reading tablets allow students to not only read the books, but they can also have the text read to them. This is crucial for struggling readers or readers new to the English language who need to hear a positive model in order to improve their fluency. Access to the Kindle would also allow students to write reading responses in a much more alluring way than using pencil and paper!

It is essential to have this reading tool in our classroom because students will not only benefit from having thousands of books at their fingertips, but technology also increases students' interest in their learning.

A Kindle Fire will make it much more affordable to have access to a wider range of genres and topics for reading. We are all excited to include the Kindle Fire in our guided reading groups!
