My Students

Think back on your own kindergarten experience. Did you love coming to school, listening to stories, playing at recess or building with blocks? The magic of kindergarten is not only gaining the skills required to be a 21st-century learner, but supporting our youngest learners with developing the executive functioning skills children need to thrive. The guided inquiry and magic of play will create lifelong learners who can collaborate and take risks. Research shows students who experience a quality early childhood education have stronger problem-solving skills, and the social-emotional skills needed to succeed in today’s job market. When children are nurtured as well as taught to read, write, and think critically, their growth can be endless. I love teaching kindergarten at a public elementary school in Los Angeles, CA.

Our students come from a low socioeconomic background: all students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch, and the majority of the students are English language learners.

However, statistics don’t tell the whole story. My students are inquisitive, hard-working, and caring. They will count, read, write, but most important, become kind humans ready to make this world a better place!

My Project

Kindergarten is a magic year for little learners. They begin the year eager and ready to learn. By the end of the year, students are reading and writing up a storm.

Our year is flying by, my students love Writer’s Workshop.

We need black markers to use while we write our stories. We need glue sticks for our cut and paste projects, we just can not seem to ever have enough.

My students need games to help them practice their newly formed reading skills along with fun and engaging games that promote literacy. There are new fun and developmentally appropriate games that help students learn letters, sounds, and easy CVC words.
