My Students

A classroom meeting space is so important for building community.

I am a teacher full of passion for my students.

My classroom is very busy and full of learning. I encourage academic conversations and inquiry based learning with my students. Engagement for all is built into my lesson planning. I have 21 students in my classroom. Part of my students are ELL children while a few started the year speaking no English. My students are hungry for love and support.

My Project

My students need an inviting and supportive classroom environment so they can thrive. The Common Core expects all kindergarteners to read at D level by the end of the year. A cozy rug for mini lessons and reading is what we need. This rug clearly shows rows and columns so each student has his/her own space. I will be able to incorporate bean bag tossing activities with the alphabet on the rug to help my kinders with beginning sounds while getting the "wiggles" out.

With the rug, my students will be able to sit in their own space, so they can maximize their learning.

My students are so happy to come to school and learn, I want to offer a clean and comfortable area for them to share their feelings while learning to read and write every day. Our school community works hard to ensure the social and emotional growth of each child while being committed to their academic development. A community rug is the focal point of these learning moments.
