Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school every day with a smile on their faces and genuine excitement for the day ahead. However, many come hungry; our entire student body receives free breakfast and lunch. Many come tired; a home or even a bed of their own is a luxury several students don't have. Others come knowing little or no English but communicate beautifully through their smiles and kind hearts.

The families of my students have entrusted me with the education and safety of their children, and I take this honor extremely seriously.

Daily I strive to instill a love of learning in my students and believe the best way to do so is to provide lessons and activities that allow them to become active learners.

My Project

By creating a technology center in my kindergarten classroom my students will have the opportunity to develop critical computer skills in a fun, educational manner. Using a computer mouse that fits their little hands and a keyboard that is visually appealing will be an exciting manner in which to introduce these skills. I especially look forward to having child sized headsets for them to use so that they can clearly hear the audio and aren't constantly readjusting the adult headsets which slip off their head.

Manipulating the mouse and using a keyboard while playing educational games as well as listening to books with child sized headsets will help my students develop these much needed skills in a fun age appropriate manner.
