My students need materials which allow experiences that lay the foundation of earning (classroom jobs), spending and saving which promotes economics within the classroom. Requested items such as storage, pencils, crayons, juice will help with our classroom store.

My Students
My students are indeed special and dear to my heart! They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds just as I did when I was a child. My students are eager to learn, helpful to others and are EXCITED about what each day will bring in our classroom. I see myself in each and everyone of them and I am eager and determined to provide rigorous, rich and engaging experiences for my students every single day. I want our classroom experiences to be reflect real world experiences so that those Ah-Ha moments can occur naturally. Our school offers a wide-range of activities to help assist with all learning needs of our students.
My Project
The requested materials and experiences from our classroom store will make a difference in my students' learning and improve their school lives by creating an environment of real-world experiences that they will remember for a lifetime. Not only are we learning how to earn, save and spend in our classroom but the idea of my students being able to share these experiences with their parents to help promote smart economic choices within their very own households. My students will learn how to work daily jobs, earn money and choose whether or not they want to spend or save money earned. With earned income from their classroom jobs, students will be responsible for paying their rent and the remaining funds will be utilized to purchase items from our classroom store.
Experiences in classroom economics will not only impact the lives of my students but their families as well! The items requested will be specific to the students' needs.
For example, if a student is in need of crayons, pencils, headphones, etc., they will be able to use money earned to purchase these items from our classroom store. Literacy plays a huge role in our classroom on a daily basis. The books requested will help students continue to build upon skills such as letter recognition, letter sounds, building words and learning to read fluently. Snacks will also be available to purchase as well. After a hard days work, who wouldn't want to relax, in a corner with a good book and a snack at the end of a school day?
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
