This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Ask any of my students and they will tell you that art on Friday afternoons is their favorite part of the week. Kindergartners love art but when I tell them we're using watercolors they go wild and then once they begin painting...silence.
Using watercolors to create puts my 25 hardworking--and sometimes anxious kiddos in a mood of tranquility & creativity.
You can come into my classroom and all you hear is the peaceful background music while they put their paintbrushes onto the watercolor paper and watch how the paint disperses across the paper...they are mesmerized!
Art is the one academic area where students have the freedom to express themselves--their likes, dislikes, where they come from, what's important to them and really share with others who they are.
