My students need science materials such as an experiment of the week lab and life cycle sequencing kit to explore the world around them. They also need a STEM kit to solve real life problems in their favorite stories.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach Kindergarten to some of the hardest working 5 and 6 year-olds around! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students love to interact with hands-on materials and explore the world around them.
They have exciting questions about their world and enjoy digging in to find the answers!
My Project
In Kindergarten, we do not have nearly enough time for Science in the classroom! I make it my mission to attend every Science training that could be applied to 5 and 6 year-olds. I then try to find ways to incorporate my learning into our classroom. Fitting Science into a jam-packed curriculum is already a challenge, but even more so when I don't have the proper materials. If I can find a way to squeeze Science into our Literacy time, students get more bang for their buck. Plus the hands on activities really engage my students and gets them excited to learn. These materials will help my students investigate the world around them. This will help them to answer any questions they come up with.
My kids love Science and getting their hands dirty.
If my students got these materials, we would get to have some real-life science experiences. These experiences would give us new and exciting things to write about and want to read about. These STEM kits would help improve the learning of my students in every subject. I believe these kits help to spark their imaginations and make learning exciting again!
