My students need a document camera to bring lessons to life due to the fact that all students are able to see what is being explained or modeled.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarteners would love to have a document camera, like an ELMO, in the classroom and not the red furry one...we need a document camera (also known as an ELMO)!
Unfortunately, with budget cuts and increased class sizes, access to appropriate and adequate technology tools is difficult to get to every student.
Since I teach Kindergarten, I am at the bottom of the priority lists for technology.
I am privileged to teach 20 Kindergarten students. They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and come from low income households. Most students are learning English as a second language and are attending school for the first time. They don't have many opportunities to participate in technological activities outside of my classroom.
My Project
Have you ever been in a large group watching a demonstration and not be able to see because you are not close enough? Well my kindergarteners go through this on a daily basis while trying to see the pictures of a story being read or while trying to learn a new concept.
Having a document camera will allow all students to see books in large print as it is projected in front of the classroom! This will be so exciting for my kindergarteners! They will have the opportunity to come up and point out letters, words, characters, setting, etc. for everyone to see! We could also use a document camera to model assignments (in other academic area) for better understanding. For example, by modeling with math manipulatives (counters, coins, clocks, rulers, thermometers, base ten blocks, etc.).
Your support will help my students become lifelong readers.
We all know how important reading is, and you can be part of helping a child become successful in life. These items will mean so much to my children because they will all have an opportunity to share the love of reading!
