Kindergarten...Where Great Writers are Made

My students need writing materials to improve writing. Kindergarten is the very first time that most of our students are practicing writing at all. My goal is to provide them with materials to do so!

My Students

I've had the amazing opportunity to welcome a kind, diverse group of scholars to my classroom - and for many of them, this is their first experience with the school environment at all.

My school serves some of the highest need students in our area, and I want to set a foundation for academic success.

My students bring a variety of languages, cultures, and backgrounds to our classroom, and many of them are still learning how to be ready to learn at school. However, each and every child has such a great potential to learn, and we have high academic expectations for our kindergarten scholars!

My Project

Kindergarten is where most students practice writing for the first time ever. At this age, it can be hard to put creative thoughts into writing when they are just learning what a letter is, let alone a full word, sentence, or paragraph. The beginning of the year can be a struggle to get my students to even copy down a basic sentence stem and that's when extra supports are put in place to help facilitate the struggle.

Having extra materials to support my struggling writers would be extremely helpful for both the student and myself.

I do not have any teacher assistance during writing time and with 20 struggling students, this can sometimes be a nightmare to help students grow. With extra materials for support, students can learn to use these resources to become more independent when struggling with writing.
