My Students
The school has a diverse population in terms of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and learning needs. In my classroom, we have students who are gifted, English Language Learners, and students with special needs.
My students are very enthusiastic about school and learning.
They love hearing stories read aloud and writing/drawing about their own lives. They also love singing and dancing. They are very kind and loving to each other. They are creative and often blow me away with their skills and ideas.
My Project
I am requesting several different books that will be of high interest to my beginning readers. Some of the books I selected are written and illustrated by my class’ favorite authors and illustrators. Others have characters that reflect the diversity of my students. It is important for students to have access to books with characters that look like them. This will further encourage my students' love of reading.
Every educator knows how important love of reading is to students succeed academically.
This project will help me ensure that every student in my class can find a book that they love and will want to continue to read over and over.
