Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten in an impoverished area. My students need basic supplies to complete everyday assignments. When scissors break, glue sticks run out, and markers dry up, many do not have the finances to replenish the necessary supplies.
My students need basic supplies to meet grade expectations and be successful in kindergarten. Kindergarten students need to be able to use scissors properly. They also need crayons and markers on a daily basis for in class assignments. Because of their growing fine motor abilities, kindergartners need to use the large pencils. Yet without the sharpener that is able to sharpen those specific pencils,the students are unable to use them.
Kindergarten helps set up students for success and create an early love for learning. With these basic supplies, the students will be able to develop fine motor abilities. The students will also be able to create and explore using the crayons, markers, and scissors. Students will be able to use the dry erase markers to practice and perfect writing skills. Storage book bags will provide the students with an opportunity to take current leveled readers home and returned without being damaged for future student use.
