This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in a public school located in New York City.
My students' enthusiasm for the world around them is inspiring.
They make teaching enjoyable and fulfilling! Kindergarteners learn best through play and exploration, and I keep that in mind as I create differentiated lessons to accommodate their different learning styles.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and budget cuts, it is difficult to provide my little ones with all the resources that are needed.
My Project
I need an up-to-date, reliable, and highly efficient computer to plan lessons, and use to execute lessons with a smartboard. A working computer is necessary for pivoting from in-person learning to hybrid or remote learning. Also, it is needed to maintain a classroom website for student and parent access. Currently, I am using an outdated computer that is constantly overheating and has to be rebooted often to reliably work.
A MacBook will help my students learn in a world where technology is part of everyday learning.
My goal is to integrate educational skills with technology. My students would be able to play interactive games on this computer to master basic skills such as letter recognition, phonological awareness, and math concepts.
My students need a working computer to help keep them focused and engaged in their learning.
