Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an amazing class of little learners. They love our routines and they love coming to school. They especially love the bright colors and exciting hands on activities we get to do together.

I work at a very large title one school with a lot of ELL learners.

Despite being in a beautiful building built around a garden with a pond and a lot of turtles, we actually have a pretty small classroom with a lot of space issues. My students are city kids and many of them have not ventured much beyond our neighborhood. Luckily we have a great neighborhood with a nearby university that helps our school enormously. Our students know the key to breaking the poverty cycle is to go to school. They are all about working hard and living our school motto. They are committed to learning, no exceptions, no excuses!

My Project

I requested quite a few consumable materials. They make my life easier as a teacher and the students enjoy having their work displayed around the room. The post it note pads are great for making anchor charts, the pocket charts will be used daily for both center work and information sharing. The markers can be used on white boards to practice writing and math. The playdoh is used daily in a sight word center. These are items that the school does not provide. I also selected some Thanksgiving books for our class library to share.

These products will make a big difference for our daily workday.

We can use anchor charts, pocket charts, sentence strips and play doh in our whole group instruction, our small group instruction and in our center time. Students in Kindergarten need to learn to read. To do that it really helps to have the supplies you need to teach with.
