Kindergarten Techie Tools

My Students

COVID 19 has thrust my kinders from learning in school to learning via internet meetings in their living rooms. Most students have loose papers and a pencil or two to complete math and writing assignments. COVID 19 teaching has forced me to use unfamiliar internet materials in place of tried and true worksheets that hone in on specific skills/objectives that are being taught.

My students are visual, auditory and tactile learners.

Because my kindergarteners can't touch things in class, I want to promote their ability to see and hear vibrant/ear appealing lessons.

Since I was unable to snag my best teaching goodies from school, I'm left with a lot of worksheets, a couple of Expo markers and some books, to carry on with daily lessons. Being able to use familiar materials with my kinders, will allow them to feel a connection between prior and present lessons.

My Project

There are only 2 things that I need to make teaching from home a breeze - a document camera and a "Smarter than smart" Smart pen. It blew my mind to see a Smart pen in use. When I get the ability to draw on paper and then have it on the screen, this will help my students connect visually with our kindergarten topics. Fun graphics always make the lessons more interesting.

Having a document camera will be a life saver.

I have so many non-digitized papers that I would like to share with my kindergarten students. If I had a document camera, then all of the teaching stars will be aligned in my new digital distance teaching world.
