Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our Kindergarten students are 4 and 5 year olds that attend our local community school. All of the children are from low income families and eligible for free lunches. Many of the students live in temporary housing including shelters, or are doubled up with extended family members.
Many students struggle to come to school on a daily basis.
However, with constant outreach to parents and working with families their attendance has been improving.
Our students are a special group of children who enjoy learning and are always curious about learning new things. The especially enjoy reading stories and writing their own books.
My Project
Our students are currently learning how to write their power words and letters of the alphabet, they are very excited. With the white boards students will be given a fun way to practice their writing. Students are learning how to write sentences using their power words that they have learned so far in order to write a story. The air diffusers will help make our classroom smell nice. The chart post it will be used to make charts so students can learn different reading and writing strategies. Charts will be hung up around the room and will also have student work displayed.
