This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is tough business, learning to read and write isn't easy, but you can help us do it!

My students are English Language Learners living in the inner city and most of them are on free or reduced lunch.

They don't let obstacles get in their way. They have many challenges facing them, but they try hard and persevere everyday, and manage to keep a smile on their faces.

My Project

I am requesting journals that will help us learn our letters, and our sight words (the words that are used most frequently in books like, he, I, the, am etc.). These journals will familiarize students with letters, letter sounds, and writing the letters. The sight word journals will familiarize the students with the sight words and ways to use them so that they may become familiar with them in order to read. I am also requesting a chart stand that I can hang chart paper on so I may model writing correctly to the students.

These materials will help my students build vocabulary, writing, and reading skills.

These are all foundational skills that are essential to help them continue on with the rest of their school career.
