Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Science is the spice of life and we need to keep it alive in early childhood education! I teach Kindergarten at a Title One, 100% free lunch and breakfast school in New Mexico. I teach a disadvantaged population of students.

Budget cuts this year have made it impossible to build a nice science curriculum for my science loving Kindergarten students! They love science, and hands-on projects. Their brains are like little sponges, absorbing all the knowledge they can find. Our science center has been pretty boring lately. I am looking for a way to spice it up! My cute little experimenters and explorers deserve it. :0)

I need to replace our dingy, uncovered aquarium that is difficult for students to utilize. I need to have a larger, round aquarium built for classroom use and easy viewing. The aquarium I've requested is made for the classroom and has a light, filter, and pump. This way I can add more freshwater fish to our classroom for students to observe and care for. I also would love to have a science center with hands-on activities reinforcing the science curriculum our district provides for us. I feel that it is important for my students to be able to go to a science center to play at and experiment with during their free choice "play" time, daily. The kit I have requested has over 60 items that goes with it and it is compact and the perfect addition to my already in place science center. It is well put together and has separate compartments for students to keep materials organized. Students can experiment with magnets, mixing colors, looking at specimens through a magnifying glass, and much more. I cannot wait to get them little white lab coats and watch them experiment. Lastly, I need a class subscription to Weekly Reader, which is always chock full of nonfiction science articles.

Thank you for making it possible for my students to have fun while learning about the world around them! Your generosity really is so touching!
