Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class of 20 diverse, urban kindergarten students love to explore the world around them through science activities. Most of my students live below the poverty line, are English language learners, and have not attended preschool.

There is such a focus on reading and math in our school that science is often left out. As teachers, we need to find creative ways to include science while relating it to other concepts. Our grade level has successfully created a plan, but now we need the materials.

I am writing this grant for a variety of hands-on science activities. They will enable my students to learn and make brain connections and pathways in the tactile, experiential way that young children need. The building kits and space sand will encourage new thoughts and ideas, and the games will reinforce both science concepts and math and reading skills.

You can bring science to life in my classroom and inspire future researchers and mad scientists alike! I do all that I can to encourage all of my students to follow their interests and dreams. I hope you will join me in this endeavor.
