Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is located in the heart of the Bronx. It is currently labeled a Title I school which means that more than half of the students are provided with free breakfast & lunch daily. Many of our students are currently residing in shelters, temporary housing or "doubled up" with another family in need. As a result of these struggles, many families are unable to purchase school supplies such as pencils & notebooks and now they will need to purchase PPE for their children to attend in person schooling. We all want our students to thrive, these resources will truly help.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of what learning resources they'd like to use during center time.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
